Greenspace Landscapes were stuck for planting ideas for this blank canvas of a newbuild garden in Edinburgh. Our designers created a dog-friendly planting plan featuring robust plants that would establish quickly to disguise the fenceline. The plant palette offers lots of colour and interest and as it matures, will make the garden feel much more private too. Read the full case study on our website. https://lnkd.in/gE-7wagc

We love collaborating with landscape and design companies to help transform outdoor spaces. Take this garden in North London as an example. It's a decent sized space but is not particularly inviting as it is. It needs privacy, and it needs plants. But to rip up that paving and re-instate beds and borders would be a nightmare considering the lack of access. Living Windows offered the perfect solution though - planters. And with their schedule filled to overflowing, who better to help out with the planting plan than My Garden Design. Living Gardens completed the client brief questionnaire on our website then uploaded photographs and measurements and our designers did the rest. The result, a plan for a verdant green oasis that will feel cosy in winter and comfortable in summer. Ideal for entertaining, relaxing and eating al-fresco at any time of day. Do you need a garden design in a hurry? Take a look at the My Garden Design Website or DM us to arrange a demo.

It's #StressAwarenessMonth and from talking to industry colleagues at various events, many landscapers have never felt so stressed. Even lockdown was less trying than this endless rain. Nevertheless, I feel lucky to have a great team of landscapers working with me, lots of enquiries coming in, reasonably good health and a great family. This is a blog I published a while ago about minimising stress during busy times of the year. I've just re-read it to remind myself of some of the coping tools that are available to everyone in our industry. Please take a look and if you have any other stress busting suggestions for the MGD community, please share them in the comments. For anyone who is struggling at the moment, Perennial - Gardeners' Royal Benevolent Society offers lots of help with physical and mental health difficulties, financial problems and much much more besides. https://lnkd.in/gmc8Qju #worksmarternotharder #Landscapers #landscapinglife #springiscoming #gardendesigners

In this blog from the MGD archives, the one and only Alan Sargent offers sage advice on conducting site surveys. My Garden Design customers will know that we base our designs on the measurements and survey results that you submit. It's therefore crucial for the success of your project that your measurements are comprehensive and accurate. At MGD we do our utmost to make sure that our designs are buildable, but as landscapers we know that whilst hardly anything is impossible, some gardens are more challenging than others. What has been the most challenging garden design you've worked on so far? What were the biggest difficulties and how did you overcome them? We'd love to see pictures of the final result. #onlinegardendesign #designchallenges #landscapingdesign #buildinggardens

Your conversation starter for this week....... Does the internet make garden design easier or harder? Is it helpful for you to have instant access to inspirational articles and photos, descriptions and prices for materials and online forums? Or do you find that clients have unrealistic ideas and expectations based on what they've seen online? What would you like to see more of (in terms of garden design) online? And what would you like to see less of? #gardendesign #conversationstarter
